This is a self funded family run project and we keep our tariff as low as possible.
Donations to help with project development are gratefully received and will help us to continue to offer visitors a low-cost service that also promotes the wider interests of the Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre communities.
Rousay is accessed by a short ferry trip from Tingwall Pier (20 mins drive from Kirkwall and Stromness). There are toilets and and waiting room within the booking office building.
All vehicle journeys must be booked in advance either online or by phoning the Orkney Ferries Tingwall Office on 01856 751360. Online booking now available.
Remember to arrive at the pier at least 15 minutes before departure. Wait in the marked marshalling bays and crew will tell you when it's your turn to board the ferry.
Once the ferry leaves the slipway it's well worth going through the passenger cabin and standing at the rear of the vessel for some fabulous views
Upon arrival at Rousay Pier we recommend a visit to the newly refurbished Rousay Heritage Centre where you can find out about the wide range of archaeological sites spanning the Neolithic, Iron age, Viking and post medieval periods that are still revealing their secrets with new discoveries every year.
Follow the other vehicles off the ferry and the Heritage Centre is 20 metres up on the left.
As well as the archaeological wonders our island group offers some outstanding sights for the naturalist.
RSPB reserves on Rousay and Egilsay draw nature lovers from near and far and the seas around our islands are perfect for exploring by boat or kayak.

"Peedie" is the Orcadian word for small.
Here at the family-run Peedie Farm we take our environmental responsibility very seriously.
We keep bees (our peedie livestock) to produce a honey that is full of natural health benefits and to assist in the pollination of the various plants and crops in the area.
We try too keep our energy footprint as low as possible and have used locally produced materials whenever possible whilst building the site.

An Aire/Stopover offers a safe overnight parking space for a motorhome, campervan or (motorcaravan).
Motorcaravans are described as self-contained, have their own onboard toilet/wash facilities, fresh and waste water tanks and can operate/tour independently of site services and allow the occupants to sleep, relax, prepare and eat food within the confines of the vehicle.
Day-time parking and overnight stopovers in aires allow local hospitality, shops and tourism businesses to benefit from motorcaravan tourism custom all year round and decrease the impact of wild camping in vehicles.
We hope that this will encourage the existing one day motorcaravan visitors to stay with us for one or two nights allowing them to explore the wonderful sites on Rousay in a less hurried fashion and travel to Egilsay and Wyre as foot passengers to explore those islands and contribute to the sustainability of those island communities.
