Rousay is accessed by a short ferry trip from Tingwall (20 mins drive from Kirkwall or Stromness). There are toilets and and waiting room within the booking office building.
All vehicle journeys must be booked in advance either online or by phoning the Orkney Ferries Tingwall Office on 01856 751360. Online booking now available.
Remember to arrive at the pier at least 15 minutes before departure. Wait in the marked marshalling bays and crew will tell you when it's your turn to board the ferry.
Once the ferry leaves the slipway it's well worth going through the passenger cabin and standing at the rear of the vessel for some fabulous views
Upon arrival at Rousay Pier we recommend a visit to the newly refurbished Rousay Heritage Centre where you can find out about the wide range of archaeological sites spanning the Neolithic, Iron age, Viking and post medieval periods that are still revealing their secrets with new discoveries every year.
Follow the other vehicles off the ferry and the Heritage Centre is 20 metres up on the left.

About us
"Peedie" is the Orcadian word for small and we only have peedie livestock (chickens, cockerel and bees).
Here at the family-run Peedie Farm we take our environmental responsibility very seriously.
We keep bees (our peedie livestock) to produce a honey that is full of natural health benefits and to assist in the pollination of the various plants and crops in the area.
We try too keep our energy footprint as low as possible and have used locally produced materials whenever possible whilst building the site.
Accredited by CAMpRA, the Campaign for Real Aires.
We encourage day visiting motorcaravanners to stay with us for one or two nights allowing them to explore the wonderful sites on Rousay in a less hurried fashion and travel to Egilsay and Wyre as foot passengers to explore those islands too and contribute to the sustainability of our island communities by using the local hospitality, shops and tourism businesses all year round whilst decreasing the impact of off site camping in vehicles.
